Sli Chluain Bheag is a residential in-fill site in the heart of Tralee, procured by Kerry County Council via a ‘Designed by the Contractor’ contract to deliver 19-housing units on a heavily constrained site. On this occasion we opted for traditional masonry construction due to the scale and nature of the project, tricky balcony detailing, programme constraints and added robustness. The project consisted of three separate buildings; a detached accessible bungalow; an 8 apartment building and an 10 apartment building. Interfacing with >20adjoining residents we successfully demolished existing structures, created new boundaries and restored private amenity space with no inconvenience.
The project is testament to how measured and well appointed in-fill development can be undertaken sensitively and professionally to deliver modern housing.
