Civil and Streetscape
Phase 1 of the Tralee Community Heating Project focused on the Mitchell’s area of Tralee. The district heating pipe network for the scheme included laying a 125mm duo steel primary pipe network with 63mm duo-pipe for local distribution with 22mm duo-pipe as branch connections to each housing unit. In total 42 dwellings dating from 1935 and 18 new dwellings were serviced.
As part of the brief and in conjunction with an overall regeneration of the area, undergrounding of services, replacing, upgrading and provision of new services was included. Streetscape regeneration vis-à-vis provision of new road and footpath surfaces to grade, traffic calming, street furniture and drainage upgrades were included.
The Eamon Costello(Kerry) Ltd team carried out substantial investigative works to identify, mark, protect or divert underground services, with minimal disruption.
In addition a significant amount of daily public liaison was required to keep residents briefed on progress, advancing excavations, amended and changing access routes, parking arrangements and any other inconveniences. Due to the meticulous planning and conscientious approach of our site team the project was a PR success.
