ECKL were engaged as main contractor to reconfigure and refurbish the X-Ray and CT rooms and observation areas at University Hospital Kerry.
Works necessitated the full removal of Mechanical, Electrical and clinical installations along with finishes. A significant amount of demolition and floor chasing along with structural stitching were required to modify the available space.
To achieve the required RPI designation fully lead lining was required to the room enclosures. As the works were undertaken in a live environment, they posed several particular risks such as demolition, the removal of ACM’s, live tie-ins and dust management.
Works were also undertaken during the pandemic which demanded a high degree of planning to ensure social distancing and the protection of operatives while achieving delivery.
