Upgrading works to Bray Head Signal Tower, Valenita Island

Eamon Costello (Kerry) Ltd were appointed main contractor and PSCS by Kerry Co Co for the upgrade of Bray Head Viewing Tower and its surrounding Environs on Valentia Island.  Key elements included the construction of durable, non-slip pathways matched to the sites natural character and gently sloped to preserve natural drainage, alongside erosion control measures such as minimizing wheel disturbance and installing silt curtains to protect sensitive landscapes.  Site boundaries were re-established using stone walls in keeping with the natural setting, complemented by directional and informational signage guiding visitors along the route.  Accessibility was a core focus, with dedicated disabled access, wayfinding, and a reconfigured stile defining the pedestrian route from parking to the site.  Located within a Special Area of Conservation, the project demonstrated our ability to delivery sensitive, minimal footprint trail and access works – including hand-dug foundations within ecologically constrained environments in close proximity to an open waterway.
