The annual Ring of Kerry Charity cycle will see 11,000 cyclist bring to fruition months of hard training as Munsters biggest charity event takes place along the scenic but challenging Ring of Kerry route. In total a gruelling 180Km route awaits participants as they set about fundraising €1m for various charities.
Eamon Costello (Kerry) Ltd are proud to be part of the fundraising and will be represented by a group of ten employees cycling on behalf of Down Syndrome Kerry.
The annual event has become somewhat of a fixture on the companies social calendar with many participants having completed the journey multiple times previously. For weeks employees have been looking forward to the build-up by means of comparing training schedules (or the lack thereof.!) and more experienced participants regaling their new recruits with tales of woe on the difficulty that awaits.!!
In fact some wily participants have taken a scientific approach to completing the route akin to the Tour De France, checking wind forecasts & citing optimum start times to minimise head winds etc.!!! While the banter is always good natured all participants are conscious of the underlying reason they are completing the journey – to raise much needed funds for charities within the Kerry Region.
