Cluain Láir is the first phase of development by KCC on their strategic housing site at Lohercannon Tralee. The development consists of 61 social housing units in a combination of unit sizes from 2-bed apartment’s to 5-bed semi-detached.
ECKL were appointed main contractor and PSCS for the works. House styles are traditional in layout but are to the highest standard to achieve an A2 energy rating. Site development works required rock breaking and trench filling due to the karst nature of the site. Particular risks were present from the outset in the form of overhead MV lines traversing the site These were successfully managed, diverted and undergrounded in co-operation with ESBN.
Civils works involved large scale deep excavation to facilitate service tie-ins to sewer and storm lines. Elsewhere large diameter pumped Foul and watermain required diversion in conjunction with Irish Water to clear way for the development footprint.
