Eamon Costello (Kerry) Ltd has been engaged as main contractor for the construction of The Palliative care centre at KGH which will have a programme to completion of 12 months. It is a single storey RC frame building extending to 1800m/sq which externally will be clad in cal-zip roofing, while wall finishes will comprise of brick, plaster and natural stone.

The building will serve as an in-patient unit and will comprise of 15 private 1-bed rooms along with accommodation for ancillary services provided by the Kerry Hospice Foundation looking after people with serious illness as well as their families and friends.

The specialist centre has been designed to provide a warm, friendly and comfortable environment, with the aim of enhancing independence and quality of life.

Features of the building will be the southerly aspect of bed rooms, along with a dedicated patient hoist system throughout.
